Marines TOYS FOR TOTS – KARATE Program

The World Martial Arts Academy of Pennsylvania

will host a Tae Kwon Do – Toys for Tots Program at the Western Pocono Community Library. On December 8th, 2012 beginning at 1:30 PM, an introductory class in the art of Tae Kwon Do will be offered for all individuals and families bringing new unwrapped toys for the Marines Toys for Tots program. Pre-registration is required for this popular program. Call 570 269-0096 to reserve a spot for your family. We welcome the entire family to come and enjoy this program while making a child happy during the upcoming holidays. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

3rd Blood Drive a success!

Blood Drive November 19, 2012

Western Pocono Community Library

The World Martial Arts Academy of PA. along with the Western Pocono Community Library will host its 3rd blood drive to benefit the Miller Keystone Blood Centers of Pennsylvania, on November 19, 2012 from 12 noon till 6:00 PM.

Miller Keystone Blood Center is the only blood supplier to 25 hospitals in our local area. The need for blood donations is great at this time of year. Approximately 500 units of blood are needed everyday in the 12 counties served by Miller Keystone Blood Center.

If you are in good health, 17 years of age or older, and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, you are most likely eligible to donate blood. There is no upper age limit for blood donors. For more information, call 800-223-6667 or visit GIVEaPINT.org.

WMAA FALL TOURNAMENT

The World Martial Arts Association will hold its annual fall tournament in Brooklyn, NY., Saturday, November 17, 2012.
All registered members of the WMAA are eligible to participate in forms and free-style events. Doors open at 12 Noon and pre registration is required. Go to www.wmaa.com  to complete on-line registration.

The World Martial Arts Academy of Pennsylvania wishes to extend our thanks to Paula Borino, Editor of the Pleasant Valley Sports Report. Ms. Borino began publication of the Pleasant Valley Sports Report in 2002 and 10 years later she continues to support and encourage local merchants, businesses, teams and school sporting programs in and around our community. Ms. Borino has distributed her paper free of charge with emphasis on the youth of our town and has consistently supported the WMAAP in all our community service projects.
Please join us in extending our graitude and thanks for all she does to bring informative articles and information about available programs to our community.
Ms. Borino’s most recent publication is currently supporting the 3rd blood drive that the WMAAP and Western Pocono Community Library is sponsoring for the Miller Keystone Blood Center.

Hurricane Sandy Relief

Color:black Thomas Cully, Christopher Cully and Matthew Cully gather much needed supplies for the residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The Students, Staff and Instructors from the World Martial Arts Academy of Pennsylvania have begun collecting items to assist in the relief effort in the wake of hurricane Sandy.
The first shipment of supplies left November 4th out of Brodheadsville, PA. destined for Broad Channel, Rockaway, Breezy Point and Howard Beach. Many homes have been destroyed with nowhere for families to return to.
With the weather growing colder, jackets, coats, hats and gloves are especially appreciated as are blankets and comforters. Cleaning supplies are also in demand. In addition, paper goods such as toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, paper plates and plastic utensils.
If you wish to donate, please call 570 234-4424 and they will arrange to pick up.
The World Martial Arts Academy of PA. practices the art of Tae Kwon Do and holds classes in the lower level of the Western Pocono Community Library.
